Director Greeting Dr. Wynette C. Howard
Dear Early Childhood Families and Weld Re-8 Community,

What a joy and gift it is to be back with our preschoolers, families, and staff! The first few weeks of preschool have been filled with new beginnings, learning, and friendships. Together, as educators, families, and children, we are a community with many wonderful and diverse strengths to share and build upon. We are excited to partner with you in your child’s growth and development this year, and we are thrilled to be a part of your child’s educational journey!

I am pleased to share that we are introducing a new Early Childhood curriculum, World of Wonders. World of Wonders provides a rich language and literacy foundation as well as content in social emotional development, mathematics, social studies, science, handwriting, art, music, sign language, and more! We will be sharing resources with families soon to provide opportunities for home-school learning and connections. The use of the curriculum will provide the essential knowledge and skills to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. Many thanks to the District and Weld Re-8 Board of Education for investing in this new curriculum on behalf of our students.

-Volunteer packets are available at the main office if you would like to volunteer at preschool. There is no fee to you for the background check that is required as part of the volunteer packet.

-We are on Facebook. Please like us as Little Trappers Preschool!

-Any missing or incomplete paperwork for your child needs to be turned in to the main office as soon as possible. The documents in your child’s file are necessary for State Childcare Licensing, the Department of Health, and to best support your child and keep your child safe while at preschool. We appreciate your partnership in making sure your child’s file is up to date.

-For your child’s safety, please remember that your child will only be released to you as the parent or to an adult 18 years or older who you have authorized in writing. If you need to add someone to your child’s authorized person list, please go to the main office. Please also remember that we will ask for identification, check your child’s authorized person list, and require a signature from you or the authorized person before your child will be released from the building, playground, or from the bus line. This may require a trip back into the building if your child is on the playground or at the bus.

-We want to thank our District Transportation Department for their dedication in providing quality transportation services for our district’s students. One way of many ways the Transportation Department partners with families is to issue a bus tag to each preschooler who rides the bus. Please ensure your child wears this tag daily when getting on the bus. If your child’s bus tag has been misplaced, please contact the Transportation Department at 303-857-7370.

-We love seeing children’s delight and eagerness as they enter the building at the beginning of the day and reunite with parents and siblings after preschool. Sometimes, in all the excitement, preschoolers or siblings run ahead of parents. The building and parking lot are busy places. Please help teach your children to stay with you and please hold their hands.

-We are appreciative to our District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Alan Kaylor, and our District Nutrition Services for their commitment to ensure our preschoolers are provided with nutritious meals. The preschool meal menus are on the district website www.weld8.org under “Parents and Students” and then, “Nutrition Services.”
-YOUR voice matters in your child’s education and to our excellence as an Early Childhood Program and District. We invite you to visit with your child’s teacher and with me as the District Director of Early Childhood Programs to share celebrations, questions, or needs. We build relationships through informal time together and we are also always happy to schedule a meeting with you. We are forming a Family Engagement professional learning community this year, which will focus specifically on partnership and relationships with families. We will share more about this soon.
